Reading this I think it's related to your graphics, did you check the event log and update the drivers? I think I have some users that are 4 second smothering their mac at the first sign of trouble and giving themselves grief. I power cycled the machine again and left it on for the whole night (5:00pm-8:00am). Reinstalling everything should NEVER be the solution. Turned out to be two network mappings I had.
