The Answer SuperUser contributor Canadian Luke has the answer for us: Windows 7 Home Premium supports up to 16 GB of RAM. i.e. Unplug your previous 2 ram and move your 2 new ram to the other slots to see if it still works. I had at that time worked out a method to prevent this problem.
