If the printer is on the Windows 7 machine and you want to print on the XP machine then do the same instructions on the XP machine -- port name in printer sharing both ways (win 7 to xp and visa versa) i can also share and access cd driv from xp to win 7 and visa versa. i had to disable the firewall! It's as if the credential check between the two is failing.

You saved me a lot of hassle. This worked. At foist that was not enaf and i still got the error, but i runned network setup wizard and who-al-a, i can connect to xp machine and its shares. printaway!
